Where I went to school I graduated from Syracuse University in 1988 with a BFA in the School of Visual Arts [VPA] and majored in Studio Research. This major focused in researching, problem solving, designing and building 3 dimensional artwork or products usually made of wood. I focused on designing and laminating skateboards, snowboards and surfboards and also designed a contemporary line of furniture. I can't say enough about my professors Jerry Malinowski and Lee Dusell, what I learned in this major are skills I continue to use today. After graduation I started a home restoration business on Nantucket Island after graduation for 3 years. In 1991 started my company Malcolm Designs Ltd. first by designing and selling artwork, t-shirts and winter hats. The winter hats called "Stovepipes" were sold to shops on Nantucket, NYC [16 boutiques], Aspen, Miami Beach, Ketchum, Philadephia, Boston etc. and by mail order from a catalog. In the summer I sold several lines of t-shirts and designed logos and graphics for island companies.
